We’re not too far off from next year’s revenue strategy, budgeting and growth planning. So what ARE the big questions niche media companies should contemplate as they look toward a successful 2018? And more importantly, what are the solutions that will work best for YOUR business?
Generate more revenue, look for ways the competition missed, and focus on customer experience.
We asked some of our Niche Digital Summit expert speakers (who also happen to be very successful entrepreneurs) to share their wisdom:
Joe Pulizzi, Founder of Content Marketing Institute, on what opportunities publishers could be missing:
“There are 10 different ways that niche media companies can generate revenue, yet most niche organizations only leverage one or two sources. The key for niche owners is to understand that marketing and publishing have converged, and start making decisions now that will generate in substantial revenues later…including…actually selling products and services”.
Rob Ristagno, CEO of Sterling Woods on worrying about the impact of media giants:
“How can you secure future profit? Panicking about Facebook or Google won’t help. Listening to your customers will. Find the best way to marry “inbound marketing” with “outbound sales.” We built a nice digital content marketing engine that generates a lot of business. To take things to an even higher level, we’re experimenting with how to best use the data we collect from our online inbound efforts to maximize ROI on offline outbound initiatives.
Christopher Lester, Founder of C4ward Strategies, on your customer experience:
“The world of SAAS and API integrations has leveled the playing field! Every brand, no matter the size, budget or savviness, has access to the tools they need to create an amazing customer experience. Through segmentation, automation and dynamic content the smallest brand around can market like Coca-Cola . . . the question is, do you want to? And if you do, what does that look like?”
Asking yourself the big questions now will save a whole lot of head-scratching in 2018.
