BIO: Rory Gillis is COO and partner at Shannon Media Inc., parent company of three city magazines, a wedding magazine, and Triangle Digital Partners, a digital agency supporting small- to medium-sized businesses in the Triangle region of North Carolina. Rory launched and annually produces two multi-day food festivals (Taste and Sip + Savor), a women’s leadership awards luncheon and networking event (Women of Achievement), and a multi-day wellness festival featuring 25 coaches, community classes, a silent disco, and healthy dinner event. Over the course of just 45 days, three of these events were transformed into virtual events in fall 2020, which was by far the hardest event production she ever experienced. Prior to her evolving position at Shannon Media, Rory started her career producing large-scale semi-pro and club volleyball tournaments in Virginia Beach, including East Coast Surfing Championship and EVP Tour.Rory manages an event coordinator, creates and sells sponsorship packages, and oversees marketing, website creation, ticket sales, P&L, and vendor relations.
Rory has shifted most of her focus to building out a digital marketing arm, Triangle Digital Partners, during the pandemic, but she is still heavily involved with the transformation of events for Shannon Media Inc. Her favorite events include custom cocktails, out-of-the-box entertainment, and silent disco equipment.
